Ronald Ercoli Psy D

Dr. Ercoli completed his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology in 1996 and received his license from the State of Illinois in 1997 Lic. # 071-005554

Dr. Ercoli has been self-employed in private practice since 2001. Most of his work is with men, women and late adolescents providing understanding of how one’s past influences the present and how to make changes for the future. As a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, he specializes in sexual addictions (CSAT), Depression, Grief & Loss, Adoption Issues, Anxiety, Infertility, Parenting, Faith & Spirituality, Job Stress, Substance Abuse, Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Over his career Dr. Ercoli has worked in various clinical settings including drug rehabs, psychiatric hospitals, jail settings, residential treatment settings for troubled teens and juvenile sex offenders and outpatient settings.  Additionally, he spent 12 years as the staff psychologist for a mega-church with a congregation of over 22,000 attendees, functioning as the Director of their Counseling Referral Network with oversight of over 100 mental health professionals throughout the Chicagoland area. He also supervised various pastoral staff, psychology graduate students, and pastoral care volunteers. He further oversaw the provision of Risk Management for various issues of harm, such as, suicide, child abuse, domestic violence and threats of harm and provided clinical consultation to church leadership, and training on various psychological disorders and pastoral care issues.  Since 2010, in addition to his private practice, he has worked at two local Graduate Schools teaching and providing oversight of doctoral student training.

Dr. Ercoli utilizes various clinical treatment approaches with a special emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) both of which focus on helping individuals become aware of how a person's thoughts impact their feelings/emotions and actions and understanding ones problems in the context of their experiences and environment so as to begin to understand the reasons for their situation and choices and identify steps one can take to begin healing and changing the present. Dr. Ercoli is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) since 2006, which is a form of treatment for trauma and painful life experiences.
